JavaScript, also called JS, is a computer coding language used to build complex and interactive internet pages. Visitors to a website interact with a page using JS. A report by Survey Stack indicates that among all the developing languages, JavaScript frameworks received the highest, or to be precise, 65.35 percent, score as the popular language for scripting. Three main types of JavaScript frameworks are available for special development requirements.

  • Full feature: This type has several tools needed to code complex sites and applications. JS ensures that high quality of code, optimum performance for speed and accuracy are maintained.
  • Microtypes: These are small in size of a few bytes, and they are minimalistic, with just the essential coding. They are used for HTTP requests, handling events, and DOM. They are used on small tasks and when the developer needs flexibility, and the actions should be enabled fast.
  • Component libraries: Components are forms, buttons, widgets, navigation bars, and other UI elements that can be used repeatedly. Developers can use the components to increase the coding speed and ensure consistency while increasing the experience of users.

Front-end or client-facing frameworks are placed on the page and available for site visitors. Some examples are graphics, buttons, checkboxes, and text displays. 

Backend or server-side frameworks are used to provide page functionalities. Examples are managing requests from users and errors, routes for API, middleware, and others.

Frontend JS is the visual components such as drop-down menus, links that the user sees on the page.

Angular: Created by Google in 2016, Angular is also called Model-View-Whatever or MVM. MVM allows HTML tags and metadata to be used to build dynamic and interactive web pages more efficiently. The architecture is ‘Component-Based’ and dependency injection, allowing for fast development. It was created on TypeScript by Microsoft, uses programming that is declarative, and has a virtual DOM. The data binding trait is 2-way, and it provides synchronisation between the views and model in real-time. Changes done to a model are seen immediately in the view mode.

Angular is used in complicated applications that are driven by data and in single-page applications (SPA). It finds use in the development of mobile or web apps, developing multiple pages. It is suitable for progressive web applications, quick code production, convenient testing of an app part, and dependency injection. It is used in 6.8 percent of the leading one million sites. 

React: Developed by Facebook, React is a Model-View-Controller (MVC). MVM uses a component-based architecture, and thus complex user interfaces can be created. All components can be re-used and they are included in a modular package. The framework has a virtual DOM with declarative coding, thus helping to form intricate interactive pages.

Survey Stack says that 35.25 percent of developers use React. The virtual DOM helps in running applications without delays and at high speed. It is suitable for dynamic and SPA applications; while mobile developers use React Native. JSX scripts, tag syntax, and HTML quotations are combined to create the components. This method allows larger components to be split into parts and managed individually. React allows you to increase the functionality of the page and coders productivity. 

Vue.js: Developed by Evan You, who worked for Google, Vue.js is based on Angular and React JavaScripts. It uses Model-View-View-Model (MVVM) architecture and gives importance to the view layer while supporting a component-based structure. It encourages the use of progressive software development and is useful for visualizing small objects. The progressive trait helps to introduce the code as needed, avoiding full implementation that may require intensive repair if the code does not work.

As per Brilworks, about sixteen percent of coders use the JS. Vue employs a model that is declarative development. This model places importance for the method and not the process and the output size of code is compact. It uses the internal logic to give importance to specifying the required results, helping to decrease imperative and complex coding. With good documentation, binding the available apps is easier. Vue is useful in creating SPAs, progressive web apps, and UI that are dynamic.

Ember.js: One of the most efficient JS frameworks, Ember, is created on the Glimmer engine. It uses a ‘convention-over-configuration’ approach with MVVM, allowing for quicker rendering. It also has a build pipeline, routing system, and testing features that make it useful for organisation-wide development.

It is useful in projects that have an opinionated and structured framework. Features such as a routing system, infection dependency, and data binding make it useful to build large and complex sites with less code. Firms such as Nordstrom, Twitch, Square Inc., Apple Music, HashiCorp, LinkedIn, DigitalOcean, and Ghost use Ember. 

Backend types

Backend or server side JS is hidden from users and used for tasks such as handling errors, APIs, user requests.

Express.js: Developed in 2010, Express is a very popular JS framework with a simple design and good adaptability. These features make the coding of web apps, mobile apps, and APIs faster. It works with Angular and works as the Node default server framework. Since it is lightweight and has flexible routing, the core features are minimalistic, allowing use on middleware applications.

As per Survey Stack, 19.28 percent of developers use Express. It has a number of HTTP utility and middleware components, permitting well-structured APIs quickly. The thin layer of basic web apps does not hinder Node.js and other frameworks. The inherent structure means fewer errors, besides supporting plug-ins.

Node.js: Node is created on Google Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine. It has an asynchronous event drive so the event loop is not blocked. This feature allows for server applications to be run fast, even outside the browser.  Included in the framework are a number of templates and libraries that allow routing to be run. As a result, web development is made simpler, allowing for chats, and data streaming.

Highly popular amongst developers, Node has received 399,000 stars on GitHub. Some types of very famous Node frameworks are Socket.IO, Feathers.js, Fastify, Nest, and Meteor. You can use JSON schema when route serialisation and validation are needed. Some organisations that use Node are X, famously known as Twitter, Trustpilot, Accenture, and many others.

Django: A popular Python development framework, Django uses ‘Convention-Over-Configuration’ (C-O-C) and Don’t Repeat Yourself (DRY) patterns. It has security inside the framework that does not allow code to be run in the template layers. This feature helps in creating safe sites. It has several features that reduce the code needed to build the site. Some features are form creation, validation, and restructuring. 

User authentication is easier since it manages accounts of users and permissions for groups or people, and it uses sessions with cookies. Other features often used are caching pages, function output, or the whole website. It uses a ‘shared-nothing’ architecture to separate components and hardware can be added without influencing the system. As per a survey conducted by Stackoverflow, about 11.4 percent of developers use Django in AWS Elastic Beanstalk and other. 

Conclusions

The discussions indicate that JavaScript is popular and indispensable for website and mobile application design. About 65.82 percent of developers across the world use different types of JS. Hence, the conclusion is that JavaScript is still pioneering future web development.
